A search doesn't call any API - it just opens the matching page on https://mtjuris.com, the same as typing the URL yourself. No search terms are sent or recorded anywhere by the extension itself.
Logging in from the popup opens https://mtjuris.com/extension/connect (through the site's normal login, if you aren't already signed in), which issues a personal access token - not your password - scoped to your account. That token is stored locally in your browser and sent only to https://mtjuris.com to fetch your own bookmarks; it is never shared with anyone else, and you can revoke it anytime from your account's API Tokens page. Logging out in the extension just deletes the token from local storage.
